Checking the payment record

The documents below help establish what the payment is for and who is entitled to receive it.

Contract

The commercial basis and payment obligation.

Invoice

Amount, currency, recipient and purpose.

Bank route

Institutions, intermediaries and information requests.

Performance evidence

Documents proving the underlying supply or service.

Failure route

Rejected payment, refund, alternative performance and claim.

Check discrepancies before payment

Compare the payment instructions with the signed contract and invoice. If the recipient or bank details differ, establish the reason and obtain the necessary confirmation before sending funds. Retain the records of supply or performance and check the agreed procedure for a rejected payment or refund.
